Psalm 19:1-6 – God’s Glory in Creation – From Daily Reading for Monday – October 8
The heavens are telling the glory of God;
and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours forth speech,
and night to night declares knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words;
their voice is not heard;
yet their voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In the heavens he has set a tent for the sun,
which comes out like a bridegroom from his wedding canopy,
and like a strong man runs its course with joy.
Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them;
and nothing is hidden from its heat.
Some smartphones now report your screen time. The amount of time each day spent looking at your screen. The results can be startling, and it makes me wonder. How attached are we to being certain we see the screen on our phone each morning? How attached are we to being certain to see the glory of God each day as displayed in creation? If you left your phone at home this morning would you go back for it? If you missed the view of the sky out your window this morning would you go back for it?
Prayer – Creator, each night I see your glory in the night sky, your artistry in the dancing stars. Each day you greet me with glory like the rising sun. Help me set aside distractions so that I don’t miss you, more glorious than creation itself.
