The Stewartstown Summer Theatre announces its 40th annual production as it stages the classic, Singin’ In the Rain , July 31 thru August 10 at the Stewartstown United Methodist Church, 26 South Main Street, Stewartstown, PA. The air-conditioned theatre has seating designed for the comfort of the viewer, as well as elevated seating in the back three rows, and disabled and children’s seating in the front sections of the theatre.
The “Greatest Movie Musical of All Time” is faithfully and lovingly adapted by Broadway legends, Betty Comden and Adolph Green, from their original award-winning screenplay in Singin’ in the Rain. Each unforgettable scene, song and dance is accounted for, including the show-stopping title number, complete with an onstage rainstorm! Hilarious situations, snappy dialogue and a hit-parade score of Hollywood standards make Singin’ in the Rain the perfect entertainment for any fan of the golden age of movie musicals.
The Stewartstown Summer Theatre has a broad reputation for excellence. Over one hundred youth from Southern York County and Northern Maryland will form the cast, crew, and orchestra. All seats for the 12 performances are assigned seating. There is a special senior citizen discount for the Sunday, August 4 and Saturday, August 10 matinees. A limited number of handicapped seats and children’s seats (ages 10 and younger) are available at the front of the theatre. The handicapped seats are available by mail order only. All mail orders must be received by Thursday, July 25.
